Overview
The Retainer Is Cheap. Losing It Is Not.
Every clear retainer eventually gets lost, cracked, or thrown out with a napkin. What separates a retention plan that holds from one that quietly fails is how fast the next one arrives — so we treat these as a program, not a single order.
The finished-arch record is archived, which means a replacement can be produced from the original file. No new scan, no appointment, no window during which the patient is out of retention while the teeth do what teeth do.
-
Order a duplicate up front: A spare in the patient’s drawer costs a fraction of an unplanned visit and a relapsed anterior segment.
-
One caveat we always raise: If the patient has been out of retention for a while, the old file is no longer the truth — when there has been a gap, rescan.
